Scope and Contents

This collection consists of materials collected by Sam B. Cantey III. Sam B. Cantey III was born in Fort Worth in 1914. He was the son of Sam Cantey Jr. and grandson of Sam Cantey Sr., both well-known Fort Worth Attorneys. He graduated from Culver Military Academy and Washington and Lee University. He became began collecting art while he was a student. He became involved in banking and eventually became a vice-president of the First National Bank. He was a board member, past president and acquisition committee chairman of the Fort Worth Art Association and a member of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce's Fine Arts Committee. He was involved in a wide range of charitable and artistic organizations. He died November 4, 1973 in Mexico.

This collection consists primarily of materials on various artists and exhibitions. It includes exhibit catalogs, clippings and correspondence.
