Scope and Description

The Hispanic Women’s Network Collection consists of 20 boxes or 6.5 linear feet of materials. The collection includes organizational proceedings, photographs, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, and awards. When possible materials were left in the order received to preserve the provenance of the collection. The collection is arranged in five series: Organizational Proceedings; Photographs; Scrapbooks; Awards/Plaques; and Oversize. The materials within each series are in order chronologically by year. Comprehensive dates for the collection are 1988-2007.

The Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) – Fort Worth Chapter was organized in 1987. The mission of the Fort Worth Chapter coincides with that of the state organization to “promote the advancement of women in public, corporate, and civic life.” Celebrating and improving the positive image of Hispanas is the purpose of HWNT. This is accomplished through programming and collaboration on issues including education, rights to vote, mentoring programs, and annual state conferences.
