Biographical / Historical

Mrs. Irma Marsh was the superintendent of the Castleberry School District. She died on February 10, 1987 at the age of 86. She was born in Fort Worth and lived in Tarrant County all of her life. She was a graduate of North Side High School, received her bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Wesleyan College in 1939 and her master’s degree in administration from Texas Christian University in 1941. She became Castleberry School Superintendent in 1958 after teaching at Castleberry since 1924. She retired in 1972. She was a member of River Oaks Methodist Church, Castleberry Retired Teachers Association, National Parent-Teachers Association, and several other professional organizations. In 1971 she was named Outstanding Administrator by the Texas Classroom Teachers Association. The City of River Oaks had an Irma Marsh Day and the Zonata Club named her Woman of the Year for 1959-1960.
