History

The Military Order of the World Wars began in 1919 as the “American Officers of the Great War,” and was later renamed “The Military Order of the World War” at the 1920 convention. The organization is comprised of active, reserve, retired, or former service members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). The Fort Worth Chapter was reinstated in 1972 and has continued to serve the area ever since. Outreach activities include working with JROTC and ROTC groups in the area as well as Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the USA. Additionally, the chapter sponsors and sends local youth to leadership conferences annually.
