Biographical / Historical
The Mexican American College Education Fund, Inc. was charted in 1971. It originally provided scholarship money for Mexican American students. In 1974, it created the "School and Community Counselors and Tutors Program" with money provide by a grant under the Emergency School Assistance Act. This program was designed to supplement the local education agency's regular education program by providing counseling and tutoring service for those students showing accademic and discipline problems and who may be potential drop outs.
