Scope and Contents

The Anna Mowery Collection consists of three boxes comprising 1 linear foot with inclusive dates of 1992-2008. The collection consists of materials collected by Anna Mowery from her office and of Fort Worth women’s political careers. Included in the collection are photographs, books, certificates, a congressional act and a scrapbook.

Biographical / Historical

Anna Mowery (1931-2017) became the first Tarrant County Republican Party chairwoman in 1975. In 1988, she ran for Texas House Representative and held that office until her retirement in 2007. Representative Mowery had an office in Fort Worth where she represented District 97 which includes southwest Tarrant County. Her political priorities included “public school finance, property rights, property tax reform.”
