Biographical / Historical

Wilda Newton (Mrs. Max) Page of Fritch, Texas, began an informal newsletter on October 30, 1969. She proposed in this first newsletter, that an organization of the Newton family be formed. She called her publication The Newton Research Club. Apparently, it attracted Newton family researchers from all over the United States, and the purpose of her newsletter was to be a clearinghouse. Mrs. Page produced these newsletters for ten years. In the last one, dated August 1979, she stated she was tired and had no more information to share. A promise was made, however, to share information she received on a one-to-one basis with the concerned member. She moved from Fritch, Texas to Elkhart, Kansas. She stated that in all her correspondence with Newton descendents all over the United States, her family was never discovered.
