Scope and Contents

The VFW Post 2544 Records consist of five scrapbooks that contain military related newspaper clippings during World War II, four photographs in three frames, and one unframed photograph. The scrapbooks are sized at 10.5” x 15”. The unframed photograph depicts the 2nd Division Troops at Camp Swift Texas. The four framed photographs depict the U.S.S. Olympia, the 20th Annual Department Encampment of Texas Veterans of Foreign Wars, and two unidentified military group portraits. The records have a date range from 1921 to after 1942. The bulk of the records are undated.

Biographical / Historical

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post 2544 was established in [1943]. The VFW post 2544 moved to several different locations including Lake Worth and Fort Worth. Currently the VFW post 2544 and its auxiliary are located on 2313 Handley Drive in Fort Worth. The commander of the 2313 Handley Drive location as of March, 2015, is Jimmie Jackson, Sr.
