History

Dance cards are small booklets used to record a woman’s dance partners during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The cards were typically of a souvenir quality, and often had a light cord of sufficient length to wear around one’s wrist, or attach to a dress in some fashion. The dance cards reveal the type of dances popular during the period and the proper order of dances.
