The collection consists of a complete run of the literary magazine from 1974 to 2001, a copy of The Summit Beckons, and a folder of biographical information about Ms. Thompson. The extent of the collection is 3 boxes (1.5 linear feet).

History

In 1974 Esther Lee Thompson, a Fort Worth writer, founded A Galaxy of Verse Literary Foundation. It produced a semi-annual publication of the same name (A Galaxy of Verse) dedicated to poetry of both well-known and not so well-known writers. She was a member of the Poets of Tarrant County, the Poetry Society of Texas, the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, and World Poetry Society. Her own work was published in a variety of literary magazines and anthology, and inn work book, The Summit Beckons, printed in 1999. She died in 2002, but the poetry anthology continued under the editorship of Kaye Abikhaled and later, Barbara Blanks.
